Date: Wednesday, 5 June 2002
Time: 09.00-17:30
Location: Room C, University Concert Hall, Limerick, Ireland

The 6NET and Euro6IX projects are organising a joint workshop co-located with the TERENA Networking Conference and running parallel to the Conference session on Wednesday 5 June. This will be an open event that anyone may attend. Delegates at the TERENA Networking Conference 2002 need not register separately for the event.

6NET and Euro6IX are two very large projects in the Information Society Technologies programme of the European Union. 6NET is deploying a native IPv6 network at Gigabit speeds, whilst Euro6IX is focusing on provision of IPv6 Internet Exchanges. Both projects are also developing advanced services and applications that will run on this infrastructure.

The workshop will provide a general introduction to IPv6 and an overview of the 6NET and Euro6IX projects. It will discuss deployment and transitional issues, and the current state of the technology. In addition, it will consider how European research and industry can play a leading role in developing these next generation networks.

6NET and Euro6IX will publish the programme for the workshop nearer to the date of the event. Please see http://www.6net.org/ or http://www.euro6ix.net for further details.
